When I agreed to participate in the promotion of my friend Steve Sullivan's new book, I had every intention of reading Dr. Cushing's Chamber of Horrors and writing a full review. I won't start with the excuses; but, long story short, it didn't happen.

If it's any consolation, I did start reading it. And I want to continue... I will continue. However, it will be post-deadline. So far, it has me hooked. It doesn't waste any time getting into the action, yet manages to provide enough details about the characters that I already feel like I know and appreciate them.

I'm not very far into it, but a shipment of three mummies has just arrived and, while their father, "Dr." Leigh Cushing, is up north tracking a mysterious "Ice Man," his daughters, Opal and Topaz, must use the antiquities of their family's "museum" to bargain with the landlord in order to avoid eviction.

I'm embarrassed to say that I'm only on page 30, but if this much has happened already, what delights await in the next 400 or so? And, just because I didn't want to miss a deadline, there's no rule that I can't return at a later date to write more about it!
